​1. Must be a Canadian citizen (verifiable by passport or birth certificate), or in the case of juniors hold a Permanent Residence Card for no less than 12 months.

2. Must be a licensee of BCAN and registered  member with the respective P/TSO based on residence.

3. Must not have played in any closed badminton championships (outside of Canada) restricted to
another country within one calendar year of the date of the event.

4. If you are participating in the junior championships you must have competed in the respective Provincial Championships or have the support from the P/TSO​

After confirmation of registration, players will receive an "All Access Pass" for the venue which they will need to show the front desk in order to get access to facilities such as the gym, swimming pool...etc.

Clothing Regulations

Picture
Any athletes participating in the YONEX Canadian Badminton Championships may only have their Name and/or Club/Province written on their competitive playing clothes. This rule does not apply to the athlete’s warm-up clothing. All lettering must be in accordance with BWF regulations.
​Any coaches on the Field of Play during the YONEX Canadian Badminton Championships may only have their Name and/or Club/Province written on their coaching apparel.

Only athletes and coaches who are currently or were previously part of a Badminton Canada sanctioned team shall be allowed to have Canada written or represented by a Canadian flag on their competitive playing clothes or coaching apparel, respectively.
​Use of protective eyewear during games is strongly recommended.

2022 YONEX Canadian Para Badminton Championships

​​Entries in Singles must be made for a specific Sport Class or Combined Sport Class. The entries are restricted to:

 Sport Class WH 1: to players classified WH 1 
Sport Class WH 2: to players classified WH 1 or WH 2
Sport Class SL 3: to players classified SL 3
Sport Class SL 4: to players classified SL 3 or SL 4
Sport Class SU 5: to players classified SL 3, SL 4 or SU5
Sport Class SS 6: to players classified SS 6
Entries for Doubles must be made for a specific Sport Class or Combined Sport Class. The entries are restricted to:

1. MD, WD and XD Sport Class WH1-WH2 (Maximum class point of 3): (WH1/WH1 or WH1/WH2)
2. MD Sport Class SL3-SL4 (Maximum class point of 7): (SL3/SL3, SL3/SL4)
3. WD and XD Sport Class SL3-SU5 (Maximum class point of 8): (SL3/SL3, SL3/SL4 or SL3/SU5, SL4/SL4)
4. MD Sport Class SU5:(SL3/SL3, SL3/SL4, SL3/SU5, SL4/SL4, SL4/SU5 or SU5/SU5)
Tournament Rules:
The 21-Rally Point scoring format will be utilized. Three-minute (3’) warm-up and ten-minute (10’) default will be strictly enforced.

Prizes and Shuttles:
Medals will be provided to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers.
Official shuttles used will be YONEX feather shuttles. Shuttles will be provided for all matches.

Seeding & Draws

Seeding for the YONEX Canadian Senior Badminton Championships will be reviewed and approved by Badminton Canada’s Senior Seeding Committee in accordance with Badminton Canada’s General Competition Regulations. Seed and Draw Posting info will be listed below.

Coaches

All coaches requesting access to the Field of Play will need to be a minimum of:
- Competition Introduction Provincial Certified or
- Competition Development Trained as per Badminton Canada’s Coaching Policy.

The Participant (and the Participant’s parent/guardian, if applicable) grants permission to the Organization to photograph and/or record the Participant’s image and/or voice on still or motion picture film and/or audio tape, and to use this material to promote the sport, the Organization, and/or the Organization’s Activities through social media, newsletters, websites, television, film, radio, print and/or displays. The Participant (or the Participant’s parent/guardian, if applicable) understands that they waive any claim to remuneration for use of audio/visual materials used for these purposes. Permission may be withdrawn at any time by contacting either Organization’s Privacy Officer. The Privacy Officer will advise the implications of such withdrawal.

​The Participant (and the Participant’s parent/guardian if applicable) authorize the Club, the Member, and Badminton Canada (collectively the “Organization”) to collect and use personal information about the Participant for the purpose of receiving communications and the purposes described in each Organization’s policies relating to privacy.

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

The registration fee to become a member of Badminton Canada will be an annual fee (September 1 - August 31) and you must be a registered member in good standing with a Badminton Canada provincial membership organization in order to be a registered member of Badminton Canada. The maximum number of entrants will be determined at the close of registration of the event. Should the maximum entry be exceeded, priority will be given to players/team Yonex Canadian Senior, Development and Junior National Teams. After which, priority will be given to players based on their date of entry into the tournament. Doubles and Mixed teams will be considered based on the latest entry date of the two partners.
